...and proud of it.  Trees inspire me. Trees help me breathe...literally and figuratively. They are the lungs of the planet and where they grow, I live and breathe a happier life.

I have drawn their images thousands of times, painted them and photographed them dozens more. 

Some photos are more abstract, which I included to use as a comparison to my paintings.

This is a series that I feel shows my more unique photographic vision. 

With one particular picture, I found a new voice.

I am drawn to the abandoned buildings...like scattered remnants of the past that I have been chasing my whole life.  I never go inside, literally keeping people at bay.  I prefer the abstraction, the flattening of space, the close-up that reveals nothing of what life was once there.

Trees frequently find their way into these photographs; These pictures are very like my paintings from a spatial standpoint...and in psychological content.

Trees stand guard over the secrets of the place. I include them, again, to distort the view and challenge perceptions of inside and outside. 

I may change this section to "fun with fungi"

I love my close lens.  I can often be found on hands and knees to get a bug's-eye view!

My original vision for this selection of photos was to contrast the gigantic (trees) with the miniscule (fungi, shells, etc.). Upon reconsideration, I think fungus is pretty magnificent!

While I strive for those "once in a lifetime" pictures, the Flora and Fauna section below is also just to inform.  These are things I experience, or that catch my interest...I hope you enjoy!
